Schedule JW — Jurisdiction Watch
Draft — not yet in force
This document is pending legal review. It has no effective date, it does not govern anyone’s use of Jurisdiction Watch, and it contains placeholders marked TODO that counsel must resolve before publication.
This Schedule incorporates the Faraday Intelligence Master Terms of Service by reference.
This Schedule governs Jurisdiction Watch™ at jurisdiction-watch.com.
The Faraday Intelligence Master Terms of Service are incorporated into this Schedule by reference and apply in full. They are published at https://faraday-intelligence.ai/terms. This Schedule adds terms specific to Jurisdiction Watch. Where this Schedule conflicts with the Master Terms, this Schedule controls for Jurisdiction Watch only, and only to the extent of the conflict. Capitalised terms not defined here have the meaning given in the Master Terms.
JW-1. What a posture label and a JPAS score are
Jurisdiction Watch publishes, for a jurisdiction, a posture label (for example Leading, Favorable, Mixed, Cautious, Restricted), a Jurisdiction Posture Score (JPS), and JPAS quality and completeness assessments, together with supporting attributes and confidence indicators.
These are relative, comparative assessments produced by a model. They rank and characterise jurisdictions against one another on Faraday's dimensions, using the inputs Faraday holds at a point in time.
They are expressly not:
- a legal determination of permitting status, zoning status, or entitlement;
- a statement that a permit, interconnection, variance, or approval will or will not be granted, or how long it will take;
- a finding about the existence, validity, scope, or enforceability of any ordinance, moratorium, statute, rule, tariff, or agreement;
- a statement of any jurisdiction's official position, and no jurisdiction has reviewed, approved, or endorsed its score; or
- a substitute for the public record.
A jurisdiction scoring Leading may still deny your application. A jurisdiction scoring Restricted may still approve it. The score describes Faraday's read of conditions, not the outcome of your matter.
JW-2. Not a substitute for counsel or local verification
Before you act, verify with counsel and with the local authority. Section 7 (No advice and no reliance) of the Master Terms applies in full: nothing in Jurisdiction Watch is legal, engineering, siting, or permitting advice, and no advisory relationship is created.
You agree that you will not rely on a posture label, JPS, JPAS value, attribute, or briefing as the basis for acquiring or optioning a site, committing capital, filing or withholding an application, structuring or pricing a transaction, or advising a client. Those decisions require independent legal review and direct confirmation with the governing authority.
Where Jurisdiction Watch reports a moratorium, an ordinance, a docket, a queue position, or a filing, that report is a pointer to a source, not a legal opinion about it. Read the source.
JW-3. Refresh cadence and vintage
Every score carries a vintage — the date as of which it was computed — and, on supporting attributes, a source and confidence indicator.
- Scores are refreshed on Faraday's own cadence, which varies by data source. Some inputs refresh weekly, some monthly, some annually, and some are archival vintages that upstream publishers no longer update. Where an input is stale-by-design, Jurisdiction Watch labels it.
- A refresh is not guaranteed on any schedule. Cadence may change, a source may break or be withdrawn, and a jurisdiction may go without a refresh.
- Between refreshes the displayed value is the last computed value. A jurisdiction's real-world conditions can change the day after a refresh, and the score will not reflect it until the next one.
- Faraday does not restate history. Earlier vintages remain as published; a changed score does not mean an earlier one was wrong. Section 8 (Scores, forecasts, and vintages) of the Master Terms applies in full.
- Coverage is uneven. Some jurisdictions carry measured values, some carry values inherited or inferred from a containing or neighbouring geography, and some are honestly Unscored. Inherited, inferred, and estimated values are labelled and must not be read as measured ones.
If you reuse a score under Section 6 of the Master Terms, the vintage must travel with it, and presenting a superseded vintage as current is a breach.
JW-4. Methodology is confidential
Component values may be displayed to you where your entitlement permits. Faraday's weighting model, dimension weights, and score-composition formulas are confidential and are never disclosed to any subscriber, at any tier. Nothing in your access grants a licence to them.
Attempting to derive Faraday's weightings — including by systematically varying inputs, differencing outputs across jurisdictions or vintages, or bulk-collecting scores for that purpose — is a breach of Section 5.5 of the Master Terms.
JW-5. Tokens and unlocks
Jurisdiction Watch uses Faraday tokens to meter per-jurisdiction unlocks.
Token terms are set out in Schedule BL (Briefing Library), BL-2 through BL-4 and apply to tokens however obtained, including tokens bought in Jurisdiction Watch packs. In summary and without limiting BL: a token is a limited licence to access content, is not stored value, is not redeemable for cash, and is not transferable. The open question of token expiry and forfeiture is flagged for counsel in BL-4 and is not resolved by this Schedule.
Unlocking a jurisdiction gives your named seat access to that jurisdiction's detail for the period stated at unlock. Token packs are one-time purchases and do not auto-renew; token spend is recorded server-side and is the authoritative record.
JW-6. Maps, geometry, and third-party data
Jurisdiction Watch renders boundary geometry and derives scores from public and licensed third-party sources, including federal, state, county, and municipal datasets and licensed reference geometry. Section 9 (Third-party data pass-through) of the Master Terms applies in full, and third-party attribution displayed with a layer or value must be preserved on any permitted reuse.
Boundaries are rendered for orientation, not for survey, title, or legal description. Do not use Jurisdiction Watch geometry to determine a parcel boundary, a jurisdictional line, or the applicability of any regulation to a specific site.
JW-7. Named seat and no redistribution
Section 2 (named-seat) of the Master Terms applies. Jurisdiction Watch access is licensed to one named individual. Exporting scores, unlocked detail, or map data and circulating them inside your firm, to clients, or to counterparties requires a written team or seat licence.
Section 5 (automated access, scraping, and machine-learning use) applies in full, including the prohibition on crawling the leaderboard or map endpoints, on bulk-collecting scores, on agent-driven retrieval outside a licensed API, and on using any Jurisdiction Watch score, attribute, or briefing to train, fine-tune, evaluate, benchmark, or ground any model.
JW-8. Corrections
If you believe a jurisdiction's posture, attribute, or source citation is wrong, tell us through the Feedback page with the jurisdiction, the value, and the source you are relying on. We review corrections and, where warranted, publish a new vintage. We do not restate the earlier one.
